Good, Good Light

In the beginning God created light, and that light was called "good" by God. Genesis 1:Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. Then he separated the light from the darkness.God called the light “day” and the darkness “night.” His light is the light for man, and that light was in the beginning at the creation of everything. John 1:The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. Even though there is also darkness, His light shines in that darkness. John 1: The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.

In our world evil is most comfortable in the darkness and you can see that by how many crimes are attempted during the night. When someone is doing something evil, and they do it in the daytime the term "broad daylight" is used to describe it. It is like it is bold move that most would not do so as to hide the evil and then let it thrive. People will be scared when walking through a graveyard after dark, but they will have no proble walking through one in the daylight. Why? Evil seems to be lurking more in the night than in the day.

The writer of Proverbs explained it this way. Proverbs 4:18 The way of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, which shines ever brighter until the full light of day. God's righteousness will shine brighter and brighter and He will direct our paths every step of the way if we will get ourselves out of the way. This is what God also calls GOOD. On the other hand, there is the path of darkness. Proverbs 4: 19 But the way of the wicked is like total darkness. They have no idea what they are stumbling over. There is a certain "dumbness" that accompanies evil and darkness. It is the girl opening the door not knowing there is a killer behind that door in a scary movie. Yet, we can almost cry out "Don't open the door because it is so obvious there is a killer lurking, ready to kill.

And so it with our enemy, satan, and all of his cohorts. Jesus warned of the devil's schemes in John 10:10 The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. In the book of Revelation, John tells of satan being the accuser of the brethren. If you are born again, then that is you and me. Revelation 12:10 For the accuser of our brothers and sisters has been thrown down to earth-the one who accuses them before our God day and night. And you can see in the previous verse that He has been defeated, so we need to live in the light of that defeat that was made possible by Jesus. But do we? I will have to admit to my weakness is letting God fight my battles for me, so I fret and fret, and then fret some more, for nothing. My best, smart move would be to pray for the Holy Spirit to intervene and pray Jesus into the middle of the conflict and trust God. Sometimes I am not very smart though and I rely on myself to light my paths and not God. Dumb, but I am learning.

Today I want to encourage you to "step into the good light" that is God's light and everything will become so much more clear to you because in the good light you see things more clearly. If you are grieving over some situation or loss, God's light will show you it is not the end, because the end is paradise. If you are facing a huge wall, let God's perspective outshine the darkness of the situation and let His light shine some hope into the situation, because as the writer of Proverbs said Proverbs 4:18 The way of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, which shines ever brighter until the full light of day.

Be encouraged today because His light is the light of all men. His light is Good, Good Light. So lean back and get a God tan and you will look and feel marvelous, even in the midst of tough times. Why? Because God is in control and His control is slanted toward always protecting and providing for you and I, His children. Boo ya.
