God's Presence- Discernment
Proverbs 1:7 Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true knowledge,
but fools despise wisdom and discipline.
When making a decision about something, it is always best to consult God first. That wisdom comes from reverence for God and the realization that He is our only hope for wisdom and discernment. God alone. Oh, but we want to put our "spin" on what God says and what God wants, thus polluting wisdom with worldly reasoning. That is why God's Word is so vital to our daily walk. That is the basis for studying God's Word and not just reading it. Get to know the mysteries of God as revealed through His Word!! Then we will have true spiritual discernment. Another truth in the Word is found in Proverbs 3:5-6 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. 6 Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.
We need to trust the Word of God for all of our life decisions. We can't go on feelings alone because "how" we feel will pollute the purity of God's Word and thus cause us to follow the wrong path, or make the wrong decision. The above scripture says to "seek His will and He will show you which path to take. Oh how we need to realize the presence of God and turn our "whole" life over to Him and follow Him alone. The world has polluted our reasoning so much and we don't even realize it until a misstep in judgment shows fruit that is worldly not Godly.
When we experience and realize the presence of God our perspective on life changes drastically and a desire to be changed at our core soon takes over. Paul wrote to the church at Ephesus these words in Ephesians 5: 6 Don’t be fooled by those who try to excuse these sins, for the anger of God will fall on all who disobey him. 7 Don’t participate in the things these people do. 8 For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light! 9 For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true. There are a lot of believers being fooled today because their perspective is more worldly than Godly and the cause of Christ is burdened with a worldliness that hurts the church. It is time to take a stand for the Word of God, our only hope for discernment, and begin living our lives in accordance with the Word of God.
God's wisdom is totally accessible and ready to give us answers. James wrote this in James 1: 5 If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. Perhaps your first move in discerning the ways of God would be to have wisdom about whether to study God's Word or not. I am not the smartest of all people, but it seems clear to me that we will never make the right choices in our lives without God's Word guiding us and changing us.
The warning from John in 1 John 4:1 says Dear friends, do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God. For there are many false prophets in the world. The Holy Spirit ALWAYS comes through with BEST from God. Trust Him and you will always find the best way to go. Romans 12:2 is the best way to end this blog and it says Romans 12:2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
