Change Me, Lord

Change Me, Lord, rearrange me Lord. I want to be like you. No matter where I might go or what I might do, I want to be like You, Change me, Lord
This song parallels a great truth that needs to be applied to our lives today. We live in a seemingly straying world of believers. We are almost to the point of having to pay people to come to church and that would only last a few weeks before they would start hedging and not attending. Church attendance and fellowship with other believers is at such a low priority for those who “claim” to know Jesus. We are looking more and more like the children of Israel from the Old Testament as we see those who know God and have committed to follow Him drift away and put other gods in their lives. Their gods are recreation, vacations, sporting events, personal time, and many other examples show where the hearts of many people are and it is alarming!! As a minister on staff of a church it is incredibly daunting to get someone to give their all in serving the Lord and it begins at the leadership base. Leadership is in name only and a weak commitment to the cause of Christ makes leadership a watered down shadow of what it is supposed to be. Oh there needs to be some changes taking place. Some may say “Change those in leadership.” That is one solution, but a better solution might be “have a change of heart!!” If the heart is right then the commitment will be right. Jesus spoke in Matthew 6:21 for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Perhaps what we treasure has changed and the priority Christ has in our lives is more self centered than God centered? If that is the case then changes need to take place. Change me, Lord, rearrange me, Lord. Little did I know that when God gave me this song it would be so prophetic. But it is…..
Perhaps the following scriptures will initiate a change for you as they have for me.
Psalm 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Ezekiel 11:19 “And I will give them one heart, and put a new spirit within them And I will take the heart of stone out of their flesh and give them a heart of flesh,
Romans 12: And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
Just reading these scriptures won’t mean you will change, but letting these truths work a work in your heart and mind will convict you about the need to change and then you can decide what you will do with them. I hope you will begin saying Change me, Lord, rearrange me, Lord. I want to be like you. James 4:8 “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.”
It is time to draw near to God and let the change begin. God is waiting and all He needs is a repentant and contrite heart. Contrite (def) – feeling or showing sorrow and remorse for a sin or shortcoming
The Pilgrimage continues….
