Are You Looking Up?

Life really comes down to perspective doesn’t it? You can be standing on the pinnacle of a mountain and look to one side and see devastation and destroyed land from the lack of water. Yet on the other side you can see lush green hillsides teeming with vegetation that is the result of continued rain and sunshine. The perspective you get is due to what side you choose to look at when you are on that pinnacle. How you look at life is a choice also. There is good and there is bad and how we choose to look at it says a lot about our relationship with our Heavenly Father. If we have a close, growing relationship with Him due to much time spent getting to know His perspective through His Word and through continued prayer we will have the perspective that is based on his observations about the situations we face. If we treat God like a distant cousin and never get to know him in a close relationship we will have to go off what we know about life and that is a weak approach to any situation. Where are you in your walk? If you are in an ever-increasing and growing faith with the Lord you will see things from a totally different perspective than those around you. You will see with God inspired eyes. So keep looking up and keep looking to God for your help and your hope. Here is a story of perspective that will further emphasize
An airline pilot flying over the southeastern U.S. called the local tower and said, “We are passing over at 35,000–give us a time check.” The tower said, “What airline are you?” “What difference does it make? I just want the time.” replied the pilot. The tower responded, “Oh, it makes a lot of difference. If you are TransWorld Airline or Pan Am, it is 1600. If you are United or Delta, it is 4 o’clock. If you are Southern Airways, the little hand is on the 4 and the big hand is on the 12. If you are Skyway Airlines–it’s Thursday.”
What is your perspective? If you are developing a faith through a very personal, intimate relationship with the God of the Universe then you are seeing things in a bigger picture and you know that your only hope is in the Lord. Believe it or not if you seek God you will see the intricate web mapping that He is doing in life and it will encourage you to get to know Him at a deeper level. Usually God will only give you the details you can handle and that is generally based on how familiar you are with His ways. So get more familiar with His ways (perspective) and you will see things more clearly and see His hand at work in every situation. I used to miss so much God was trying to teach me by just looking at things through a very worldly vision of life, and even though I was a believer I didn’t know that God was ready and willing to show me more of His perspective on life itself. Now I cannot do without the wisdom that comes from His Word because I will miss His Godly perspective on almost everything.
Now the scripture (Psalm 121:1-2 I will lift up my eyes to the mountains; From where shall my help come? 2 My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.) makes perfect sense!! I get it!! I lift my eyes to the mountains from where the Godly perspective on life is seen and it calms my fears, lifts my faith, and gives me Godly insights about daily life. That’s it!! That opens up the wisdom of other scriptures like Deuteronomy 4: 29 But from there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him if you search for Him with all your heart and all your soul.
Paul wrote the church at Ephesus these poignant words. Ephesians 1:18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,
Saints like you and me, and Paul, and David get to glimpse a little bit more of God’s perspective when we grasp the importance of the details in life and see God’s mapping on everything. It’s kind of like living in the Matrix without all the computer stuff attached. Why? Because God’s perspective and approach to life would blow up a computer. His vastness is beyond our reasoning, but He is good to give us a glimpse of things in a better light if we will just Look Up!! Up is where our help comes from.
The question is “Where are you looking?” If it is at the problems in your life then you are missing the point. If you are looking up to the Lord and asking Him for His perspective about what is happening, He doesn’t disappoint by keeping you in the dark. If you are seeking things from a purely worldly point of view,, then you need to look at the other side of the mountain and that is going to take a whole new change in your life. King David had messed up and allowed sin to rule his thinking and here is what he did to alleviate the problem and get back on track. Psalm 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. David had to get back on track and he knew a clean break from the wrong way of thinking had to be done. Are you there too? Do you need to make a clean break from looking at life from a worldly perspective? Then ask God to change your heart and give you a new desire to see things the way He does and He will do it. Matthew 6:33 33 But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Now this scripture means so much more doesn’t it? Be found LOOKING UP!
The Pilgrimage continues…..
