And Who Are You?

John 1: 19 This is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites to him from Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you?” 20 And he confessed and did not deny; and this is what he confessed: “I am not the Christ.” 21 And sothey asked him, “What then? Are you Elijah?” And he *said, “I am not.” “Are you the Prophet?” And he answered, “No.” 22 Then they said to him, “Who are you? Tell us, so that we may give an answer to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?” 23 He said, “I am the voice of one calling out in the wilderness, ‘Make the way of the Lord straight,’ as Isaiah the prophet said.”

It is always good to know "who you are in Christ." John knew who he was and he had the prophet Isaiah as proof of who he was as he answered the priests and Levites sent to question him in Jerusalem. John said, "I am not the Christ", and when they asked whether he was Elijah, John said no. John said he was not a prophet, and then frustrated they asked him, "Then who are you?" To this, John replied by quoting Isaiah 40:3, the voice of one calling out, “Clear the way for the Lord in the wilderness; Make straight in the desert a highway for our God. John told them, "He was the voice crying in the wilderness" and that was that.

Who are you? Who am I? We are voices proclaiming that Jesus is the hope of the world and that Jesus is the light of the world, just like John. John knew his purpose and his place in the process and so do we. You may say "I don't know my purpose." Here it is Matthew 28: 18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. 19 Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to follow all that I commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” We have the power and we have the promise and we have our purpose. It is time to fulfull it and we just have to follow the Word, who is Jesus and the Word shows a lost and dying world how to be saved from the destruction of hell. Jesus is waiting..... And Who Are You?
