We live in an ever-changing world and as the world changes the Word of God remains the foundation for all believers in Jesus Christ. Without the Word as our foundation, we will drift from one thing to another just like the world around us. The only problem is "we are in the world, but not of the world." In Jesus' prayer in John 17, Jesus gives us the whole truth about who we are in this world. John 17:14 I have given them your word. And the world hates them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world. To me, it is pretty clear that our foundation is not built on this world and its teachings, and Paul drove this point home when he wrote to Timothy in 2 Timothy 4:3 For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear.4 They will reject the truth and chase after myths. Myth (def) - a widely held but false belief or idea.
We live in a world of information and the danger of that is when we immerse ourselves into some idea that comes from a flawed source. When this happens the truth is thrown out the window and the Bible becomes an outdated book of stories. We must hold the course when it comes to the living Word of God and let it speak without blemish by human suppositions. Paul goes on in verse 5 by saying this 5 But you should keep a clear mind in every situation.
To hold to the Word of God is very difficult at times because it brings us to a crisis of belief, especially when it tells us to do something we don't want to do. In reality what it requires us to do is just follow its leading wherein lies the pure, living, truth. Sadly, some will say the words above "Ain't Nobody Got Time For Dat! I say, TAKE TIME!
