A New Way of Living

Colossians 3: 1 Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory.

I like to hunt and in hunting you have to set your sights on what you are hunting. With a scope you can magnify how far out you can actually hit what you are looking at and it provides a great advantage to the distant you can shoot. Open sights are great, but a scope is a great compliment to giving you an advantage in the hunting experience.

Paul is telling us that we have been raised to a new life with Christ, and in that llfe God has given us a scope to see life differently. We don't live a life of no hope, but we do live a life that is influenced by the thought of a heavenly home in glory. Another part of this new life is the old life is no longer in our sights anymore, and that old dead life was a life with limited hope and limited vision (open sights). With God's "glorious scope" we can look beyond the confines of this present earth we live in to a new home that will be with Jesus forever and ever! When Jesus comes we will see our faith become sight and the presence of our Savior will be our victorious reality and not just a hope anymore

There are things we don't see now, so God gives us the Holy Spirit to deal with then unknown by making Himself known to us through His Spirit and through the Word of God. If you want to get some "faith" answers, get into God's Word and be encouraged and lifted to a new plane of understanding that points to heaven. Paul wrote this to the church in Corinth in 1 Corinthians 13: 12 Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.

We may not see everything clearly on a daily basis, but if we will lift our eyes to heaven and think on heavenly things God with His spiritual scope, will give us a glimpse of the wonderful things to come. He will enable us to see the prize and keep us going until that day comes, and it is coming!! Praise God!! That is a New Way of Living.
