My wife and I went to Sam's today and bought some hand cleaner and it is supposed to kill 99.9% of bacteria, and during Covid that has become a very important element of my life. I put this stuff on when I touch any public door handle, gas handle, or any handle someone might have touched. I always wonder if that .1% might get me some day and that the Covid germs can work their way through it? Such is life and I'm gonna live it as best I can on the 99.9% clean stuff to fight for me as far Covid is concerned. As far as my spiritual life is concerned I am not going to live my Christian life without believing 100% in what God's Word says. I believe the Bible.
That percentage on keeping you from germs seems to be pretty complete and pure, but there is one who has a better percentage and that is the saving power of the blood of Jesus. When you accept Christ as Savior and Lord His forgiveness is 100% pure and the remission of sins is totally complete. I have heard some people say "I have done too many bad things for Jesus to completely forgive me." But when they give their life to Jesus they see that they were wrong and His forgiveness is 100% pure! To be forgiven.....TOTALLY! What an amazing experience that is. It is the type of experience that sets into motion a life of clarity and hope!! We must never forget what Jesus did on the cross for us and thus minimize the power of that forgiveness that is ONLY found in Jesus. Romans 5:Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God. To be justified is an amazing thing and the end result is a heart that is bent toward Jesus in every area. The reason for that is because it is a changed heart from a 100% pure forgiveness!!
We will still sin from time to time, but His forgiveness and purity are real and lasting. The Lord's Spirit is ready to work in our lives and we have to deny the Lord doing a great work in our life to keep it from happening. We also have to hold back the Holy Spirit from working in our life because God is at work in our hearts and we are the hold up, not Him. God is ready to work a great work in our lives,. And even when He doesn't need our help, He chooses to let us in on the experience of seeing lives changed. I"m game! Our constant study of God's word further cements this lasting call to be set aside as a disciple and that means something, so don't take it for granted, but live in the fullness of it. The Apostle Paul told the believers in the churches the Lord established to live a life of purity and that purity is based on Jesus himself. So we learn from Jesus how to live a life of purity. He is our source of that purity and he supplies 100%, not just 99.9%. Jesus is complete in every way and He gives us the Holy Spirit to direct our walk as we strive to serve the Lord. Jesus believed this was the best way and even said we would do greater things than He did with the Holy Spirit in our lives. Give it a try? Go on, believe God and ask Him to start working in your life and then get ready. Cause things are gonna change for the better and the bigger because it will not be from you, but from the Holy Spirit.
In the movie, Waterboy, the waterboy play by Adam Sandler gets knocked out by a cheap shot from an opposing football player. His girlfriend brings out a pure water source that came from a glacier and she pours it in His mouth and He wakes up and jumps to his feet and says, "Now that is some high quality H2O." Get in God's Word and see what God can do in your life to wake you up from your slumber and you too will say about the 100% pure life given by the Holy Spirit "Now that is some high quality spiritual nourishment" and the rest is history or His story.
1 Thessalonians 1 For our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction; just as you know what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake.
