Proverbs 29:18 (nasb) says "Where there is no vision, the people perish" In the New Living Translation this scripture says 18 When people do not accept divine guidance, they run wild. Without a vision we are usually just running in one place and that one place has a lot of circles in it because we are running in circles, which means we aren't going anywhere. It seems that not moving forward with a vision prompted by God shows we have died. And what happens when we die is listed below.
We begin to look at the good ole days and wax longingly for those good ole days again. NOT GONNA HAPPEN. TIME TO MOVE ON!! Looking at the past to find our future is usually full of a lot of unforgiveness and it is polluted by regrets.
We get distracted by good things, not just the best things. Plans are limited because we have limited the time we give to God. Other things take the place of service. Hebrews 12:1 Therefore, since we also have such a great cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let’s rid ourselves of every obstacle and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let’s run with endurance the race that is set before us,2 looking only at Jesus, the [a]originator and perfecter of the faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Traditions rule our thinking. Probably the biggest culprit for us losing our vision is man-made traditions that are not age-related. This happens to all ages and it usually comes in the form of planning the same thing over and over again. God told Isaiah Behold I am doing a NEW thing. in Isaiah 43:19. Traditions kill that new thing God wants to do.
I don't think it is by chance that visionless believers cause a visionless nation. When the people of God drift from God's vision for the church it affects our world, even the secular world. The impact is being felt in our world today. Our world is running wild as the scripture says and it is confusing for even believers as this happens. If we are not moving forward we are moving backward.
This is what happens when we die. We not only let God down, but we let ourselves down, and the ripple effect is a world that is unaffected by the witness of born-again believers and this should not be. Ask God for a fresh vision for your life and then pursue that vision with all your heart. You can turn the tide as God enables and empowers, and you will make a difference and show you What Happens When We Live!
The Pilgrimage Continues.
