Was, and Is, and Will Be

Hebrews 13: ⁸ Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. In our human,

worldly way of thinking, we tend to limit God, and that is just so wrong!! Some people mix in a little of their thinking with a little bit of God's Word, and they come up with something they call faith. But is it faith? The Bible says in John 14: 1 “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. ² There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? ³ When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.

Do you believe it? Good. Because that is a promise from Jesus for what is to come for those of us who are born again. The Bible also says in Romans 10: ^{13, " For everyone} who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” That is a promise by God for "the now" or the present. When you call, God will save!!

I see you are ok with those two promises, so you can put your head on your pillow and sleep peacefully knowing you have been born again and you are 'right with God,' and you are correct, according to the Word of God, which is relevant for your daily life. You are probably good with the coming of Jesus as told in 1 Thessalonians 5:Now concerning how and when all this will happen, dear brothers and sisters, we don’t really need to write you. ² For you know quite well that the day of the Lord’s return will come unexpectedly, like a thief in the night. ³ When people are saying, “Everything is peaceful and secure,” then disaster will fall on them as suddenly as a pregnant woman’s labor pains begin. And there will be no escape. ⁴ But you aren’t in the dark about these things, dear brothers and sisters, and you won’t be surprised when the day of the Lord comes like a thief. ⁵ For you are all children of the light and of the day; we don’t belong to darkness and night. ⁶ So be on your guard, not asleep like the others. Stay alert and be clearheaded.

Here is a word from the past that definitely affects our present and our future in John 20:¹¹ Mary was standing outside the tomb crying, and as she wept, she stooped and looked in. ¹² She saw two white-robed angels, one sitting at the head and the other at the foot of the place where the body of Jesus had been lying. ¹³ “Dear woman, why are you crying?” the angels asked her. “Because they have taken away my Lord,” she replied, “and I don’t know where they have put him.” ¹⁴ She turned to leave and saw someone standing there. It was Jesus, but she didn’t recognize him. ¹⁵ “Dear woman, why are you crying?” Jesus asked her. “Who are you looking for?” She thought he was the gardener. “Sir,” she said, “if you have taken him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will go and get him.”

¹⁶ “Mary!” Jesus said. She turned to him and cried out, “Rabboni!” (which is Hebrew for “Teacher”).

Jesus was crucified and rose from the dead in the past, and He changed people's lives like the Apostle Paul, and Paul wrote the words above about whoever comes will be saved. And Jesus is coming again per the words Paul wrote in 1 Thessalonians 5, and that applies to the present (as we watch for his coming) and the future ( where He establishes a new heaven and earth). God is not limited by time or days, and Peter wrote this in 2 Peter 3:⁸ But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day.

Realize that your forgiveness is fresh, even though the debt your sin was paid over 2000 years ago, and your new life in Christ is current and should be growing in the grace God has given you in the present and in the days to come. Also, realize that Jesus is coming and we live our present in the future hope of that coming. We are not the ones who put all this together, but we trust God, who holds it all in His hands, and that is our faith walk, and this walk will stay current if we study and live the Word of God every day. Be current in your faith walk and trust the Word of God to guide you wherever God needs you to go, and go there in faith!! Our God, His Word, and Jesus are current, fresh, and new every day, so keep your walk current, and God will strengthen you as you live for Him.
