Obedient to the Word

Colossians 1:26 This message was kept secret for centuries and generations past, but now it has been revealed to God’s people.27 For God wanted them to know that the riches and glory of Christ are for you Gentiles, too. And this is the secret: Christ lives in you. This gives you assurance of sharing his glory.

I was listening to Anne Grahama Lotz sharing about what God was speaking to her from the Bible and this particular scripture really spoke to my heart. The thought that we have the answers to the secret of living our lives in the way God leads is remarkable. Remarkable in the fact that God continues to reveal Himself to us through His Word and through the Holy Spirit in our lives. Verse 27 further encourages us about God revealing Himself where it says 27 For God wanted them to know that the riches and glory of Christ are for you Gentiles, too. God is not holding anything back from us, but He is opening up new doors of understanding, but we need to find them in the Word of God.

Obedience is a tough issue in today's world and the self pride so many of us have thwarts the living of an obedient life. We many times think we have this whole thing figured out, but that is when human wisdom and understanding get into the mix, and everything goes downhill from there on. You may say "So David, you think human wisdom is bad?" To which I must reply, "Not bad, but a distant second to the wisdom of God!" And get this. God gives His heavenly wisdom to us and answers all of life's questions through the Holy Spirit and His Word!! Our God is an awesome God!!! Yes He is!!

Here is the icing on the cake!! From the above verses we see in verse 27b And this is the secret: Christ lives in you. If anyone ever tries to get you to quit believing that God lives in us in the Holy Spirit, just take them to this verse and they will see. God has blessed us with the Holy Spirit, and we can know how to live our lives in the peace and hope that only God can give us because the Holy Spirit is alive and working within us. When I accepted Jesus I was not very well versed in this truth and it stunted my spiritual growth as a new believer for many years. But when I realized this great truth it caused me to become Obedient to the Word of God. God's Word became my source for TOTAL understanding. Praise God! It is vital for us to lead new converts into this great truth and teach them how to access this power source, who is the Spirit of God. This power source is within all who have been born again.

To conclude I must challenge all who read this blog to access the answer to all of life's mysteries, and access it with an obedient heart and mind. The scenario for you might look like this: You set aside a time every day to spend time with God in His Word and In prayer. As you read His Word the Holy Spirit within you begins to speak to your mind and your heart in deep ways, giving you supernatural understanding. Then you listen even more intently and God directs your steps for the day. Then you "walk with God" in those steps and your day is filled with God opportunities and the Word comes to life in your life! At the end of the day you pray to God to show you more and more should He give you the next day and it goes over and over again. If you remain obedient to the Word over a period of 30 days, your walk with God will soar and your life will line up with who He is and who He wants you to be. THAT is the Christian ( Like-Christ) life and it begins with us becoming Obedient to the Word!!

The Pilgrimage Continues.....
