Equipped for the Work

Luke 9: 1 Now He called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all the demons, and the power to heal diseases. And He sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to perform healing. And He said to them, “Take nothing for your journey, neither a staff, nor a bag, nor bread, nor money; and do not even have two tunics. And whatever house you enter, stay there until you leave that city. And as for all who do not receive you, when you leave that city, shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them.” And as they were leaving, they went on going throughout the villages, preaching the gospel and healing everywhere.

When Jesus sent out the 12, He equipped them with spiritual power for the journey, and He still equips us today! I am nothing without the power of Jesus in my life, and all things are possible with the power of Jesus in my life!! We are truly lacking when we do not have the power of Jesus in our lives, and Jesus expounded on this truth in Matthew 19 when asking the disciples to do something that was beyond them and what they could do. Matthew 19: 26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” The impossibility of our power doing anything is real, but just as real is the possibility of what God can do through us when we trust and follow Him. Jesus is the vehicle we ride in on our faith walk.

You may think you are not equipped to even share the message of the gospel, but my Bible says you are more than equipped for the work at hand, and the calling on your life is energized with the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus said we would do greater things than He did because He gave us the Holy Spirit as our power source. Trust the Spirit and live in the Spirit, and that power will be seen in every situation. God is with you, and He has equipped you for the work. So.....Work.

The Pilgrimage Continues,
