Are You Kidding Me?

Writer: David WarrenDavid Warren

I was watching some news this morning as I was getting ready and something caught my attention that was so outlandish and crazy, and against human thinking. I looked at my tv and I had to say Are You Kidding Me? Our world seems to be getting more crazy every day and it looks as though we are approaching a very deep pit of despair. Hmm. Sounds like the Lord could come back at any time! The way things seem to be going is going to cause a lot of "Are You Kidding Me?" moments, so hang on to Jesus because He is our only hope.

Years ago I shared some very important information about eternity with a young man and he also said the words "Are You Kidding Me?" I told him that no matter what he had done his sins could be forgiven and he would have a fresh slate if he would have faith in Jesus and receive Him as Savior and Lord. He had just confessed that he had done some bad things and did not believe God could ever forgive him for what he had done. I shared with him Romans 3:23 where scripture says "All of us have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." He found out his sins were forgivable by our Lord and it prompted the "Are you kidding me?" statement. I then told Him about the extent of God's love and shared with him Romans 5:8 where scripture says 8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. He said, "Ok I'm listening." I then shared with him the remedy provided by God through Jesus where Romans 6:23 scripture says 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

But here is the clincher. He needed to know how to receive this gift given by God. Then I shared with him Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

To make it personal I shared Romans 10:9-10 as a way for him to make his confession and this scripture goes like this 9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.

The above verses are all true and the resulting salvation is the result of a person being born again in the Spirit. Getting to the point of this faith move can be a little taxing for believers to share, but the end result is so worth it. A person bound for hell is now bound for heaven!! This blog has just shared with you how to be saved or born again according to God's Word. If someone says to me "That is not trendy" I have to say "Are You Kidding Me?" Why? Because it is the difference between heaven and hell.

We can NEVER stop sharing the message of Christ. It is who we are and why we exist as believers. Jesus said this in Luke 9:23 And He was saying to them all, “If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me. Our death to self has to take precedence over our own desires and we must share the message of Jesus in season and out of season (at all times). We have drifted in the wrong direction if we have left the message of Jesus at the church house. And now some churches are not presenting this lifegiving message because it may cause someone to be uncomfortable, which is exactly what needs to happen. It is called CONVICTION!! John 16:7 But I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I am leaving; for if I do not leave, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you.8 And He, when He comes, will convict the world regarding sin, and righteousness, and judgment:9 regarding sin, because they do not believe in Me;10 and regarding righteousness, because I am going to the Father and you no longer are going to see Me;11 and regarding judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.

Are you leaving out select parts of the Bible? Are You Kidding Me? Time for a Jesus reality check. He is alive and still saving souls, in spite of lethargic, trendy "Christians." Who's side are you on? I hope the leader of your side is Jesus. Romans 5:1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, [a]we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
